Growing up our family moved frequently, but the one constant was the extended family of dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats and guinea pigs.
My desire to become a veterinarian was realized in 1997, when I graduated from the University of Queensland.
I initially moved back to the country and worked in mixed practice, then gravitated back toward Brisbane, working in mixed practice at the University of Queensland Dayboro Teaching practice.
I then worked predominantly in small animal practice in Brisbane, while honing my skills by completing a Masters of Veterinary Studies (Small Animal Medicine and Surgery) through Murdoch University in 2006.
Shortly after that, I discovered the branch of Veterinary Science that I was built for – Emergency and Critical Care!
After 10 years of working in small animal practice, I commenced with the Animal Emergency Service in 2007, completed a Membership in Emergency and Critical Care, and I and still enjoy the challenges each new case brings
My two dogs, Alvey and Bones are glad I am not studying at the moment, as there is now more time for walks and trips to the river!
