As a little girl growing up near Stanthorpe on a sheep property I dreamed of becoming a vet although I had never met one. In 1986 I graduated from the University of Queensland.

I moved to England where in 1994 I studied for a Certificate in Veterinary Radiology.

After 18 years there and now a family of four we moved back to Australia where I joined the Animal Emergency Service. Having always been available to look after your sick pets after hours it was a joy to be able to work in a hospital where all the staff and the facilities are dedicated to doing just that.

Inspired by the challenge of providing more intensive and better care to sometimes very sick animals, in 2008 I achieved a Membership in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.

We have one rather cute ginger and white cat, Nick, and five hens. I think he's slightly afraid of them but doesn't want to show it. The whole family enjoy camping, bush walking, skiing, cycling and canoeing (no, not the hens).
