B.V.Sc (Hons I)
Having many restrictions on pet ownership as a child, I was determined to become a veterinarian so that I could constantly surround myself with animals. In 2008 this dream was realised when I graduated from the University of Queensland.
My first encounter with emergency medicine was during work experience as a veterinary student at the Western Animal Emergency Centre. The rush, intensive medicine and satisfaction that comes with life-saving work excited me. What was meant to be a two week work experience became a three year position working as an emergency veterinary nurse during the last years of my veterinary science degree.
Upon graduation I proceeded onto a rotating internship of emergency medicine and critical care, medicine and surgery at Pet Emergency/ Queensland Veterinary Service. After the internship I was very fortunate to be able to continue my passion with Animal Emergency Service. It is a great privilege to work in one of the largest animal emergency centres in the southern hemisphere and together with such a committed team.
I am currently preparing for my membership exams and am hoping to someday specialise in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.
I now have two cats - Bert and Skittles. Bert was an ex-research cat that contributed greatly to our current understanding of dietary management of feline diabetes. Skittles was an orphan that was brought into the clinic one night.
