B Science (Ecology & Conservation Biology) B App Science (Veterinary Technology)
Emily always wanted to work with animals. Her strong interest in wildlife conservation lead her to undergo a science degree in Ecology and Conservation Biology. Although Emily enjoyed her studies, she found it wasn’t hands-on enough and instead she switched to Vet Tech and then later added Emergency Nursing.
Emily worked at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital and Scarborough Veterinary Surgery before joining the Animal Emergency Service in Tanawha. She is passionate about critical care and particularly ventilator cases which are extremely challenging. At the same time, the ventilator cases can be very rewarding when seeing the patient going home after they have been so sick.
Volunteering is important to Emily. Therefore, it is no surprise that Emily has been volunteering for many organisations when she finds the time, such as Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the Australian Bat Clinic, and the Wildlife Trauma Center.
In her free time, Emily spends time with her own dog and loves to travel. Next destination: Alaska or Africa.
